The gooseberry PYO cropping period is often only 4 weeks – come early on so you don’t miss out! Typically start picking from mid June through to the end of the first week of July. In 2013 its a bumper crop and the fruit is spectacularly sweet!!
Gooseberries are gorgeous in crumbles, tarts and, of course, gooseberry fool. Why not try a gooseberry purée with mackerel or roast pork? Gooseberries have a high pectin content so they are ideal for jam too.
